What they do
Visit Social Art run social painting sessions around Brisbane. You turn up with friends, an artist walks the room through a painting, and you take yours home. No experience needed, which is most of the appeal.
The problem
Bookings were coming in by phone, message and social media, and going into a diary. That is fine for a few a week. It stops being fine when sessions have limited seats, people book for groups, and someone has to remember who has paid and who has not.
Why not just buy something
There are plenty of booking platforms. Most are built for gyms and salons with many staff and locations, and priced per user per month to match. For one studio running sessions, they cost more than they were worth and most of the features would never get touched.
What we built
A booking platform sized for the business. Sessions go up with a date, a seat count and a price. People pick one and book their own spot. Seats come down automatically as they sell, so a session cannot be oversold. Confirmations go out on their own.
The group booking part
Most of these bookings are groups — a birthday, a work thing, a hens night. So booking several seats at once had to be simple, rather than making one person go through the process six times.
What changed
Bookings stopped living in three places. The studio could see how each session was filling without counting messages. And people could book at 10pm on a Sunday, which is when a lot of them were deciding to.
